Genre Research: Thriller

            Genre Research: Thriller

Common Camera Angles, Movements, Shots: High angles, low angles, pan, POV, wide shot, tracking shot, medium shot, zoom in and out.

Mis-En-Scene

Costumes: Neutral clothing or dark tones. Masks or disguises are often used.

Lighting: Low or dim lighting to build suspense. Flickering lights are used to heighten anxiety.

Acting: Actors maintain calm tone at the same time conveying fear. Body language may show stress, concern, and discomfort.

Makeup: Natural makeup could be used. Special effects, such as fake injuries and blood may be used as well.

Props: Important documents like letters or maps may be used. Props like weapons could also be used.

Set: Dark and mysterious environment, settings like cities serve as effective scenery for suspense and tension.

Common Editing: Fade in, fade out, eye-line match, cutaway, shot/reverse match

Common Sounds: Dialogue, diegetic sound, non-diegetic sound, suspense music

Film examples: Get out, Bird Box, The silence of the lambs, and the sixth sense.

Elements I like: I enjoy the suspenseful setting in thrillers along with the special effects and make-up that adds to the unsettling atmosphere. The actors effectively display fear and stress, which makes the audience feel the same tension and point of view that they have.

Elements I do not like: Normally, there is not a happy ending, and most thriller movies have the same conclusion/finale.
