Genre Research: Horror

Genre Research: Horror

Camera Angles, Movement, Shots: Low angles, high angles, dutch angle, pan, POV, medium close up shot, wide shot

Mis-En-Scene

Costumes: Characters typically wear everyday clothing, but in some cases, they may dress to be more intimidating, using darker and creepier outfits.

Lighting: Low lighting and shadow, using darkness and contrast to create a sense of suspense and fear. Techniques like backlighting, shadows, and focus lighting on specific objects help to emphasize danger and build up tension within the audience.

Acting: Actors may portray fear if they are victims, while antagonists commonly act scary to intimidate the main characters.

Make-Up: Special effects like fake blood, cuts, and wounds are used to create a realistic horror effect. Natural makeup can also be used.

Props: Objects that symbolize danger or violence, such as machetes, knives, ropes, and other harmful objects.

Set: Commonly in isolated locations. Common environments include abandoned buildings (hospitals or houses), and even dark locations outdoors such as potentially forests.

Sound: Dialogue, Diegetic sounds, Eerie music

Editing: Shot/reverse shot, cross cutting, fade in, fade out, action match

Example of films: IT, Smile, The Black Phone.

Elements I like: It grabs my attention because I want to know what happens next. It shows unpredictable things and perspectives.

Elements I do not like: I get scared, and they make loud noises.
