Movie Research: Split

Movie Research: Split

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

For the angles and shots, it has low and high angles, establishing shot, POV, medium shot, wide shot, and zoom in and out. For the makeup and props, it had different outfit changes, neutral make up, and dark tones. For the sound and set, it had dialogue, suspense music, diegetic sounds, and different settings. The actors were scared, violent and showed fear.

What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?

It had a lot of outfit changes, which shows the passage of time, and it had neutral makeup. The movie had a lot of unexpected reactions and ideas, making it interesting. I liked the fact that the actors had different perspectives of what was happening, because one was the villain, and the other ones were the victims.

What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task?

It had some scenes where the viewers could not understand what was happening because it was like an “inside joke” to viewers that had previous knowledge on the topic. This is good; however, I want to make sure all the viewers of my final task can have a clear understanding of the movie. This is to make everyone feel included and there aren't any misunderstandings.
