Title Design - Final Task
Title Design:
For our final task, we want to create a film that will have small factors that are detail oriented, however they add up to create an impact on creating an effective film, one factor being the title design. For our font choices, we have decided to narrow our choices down to Slab Serif, Impact, or Courier New. These types of fonts share the common factor on emphasizing the mysterious atmosphere of whether the protagonist is actually a high-level criminal, or just an innocent girl. As well the font isn’t too informal, however it also creates a sense of professionalism and even slickness that adds to the atmosphere of the investigation. For the color of the font, we don’t want it to accidentally blend with the background making the titles not visible, however we want it to be either a dark color or white, a color in which it may convey mystery or uncertainty within the audience. For our size, it's important for the audience to acknowledge the titles, however we also have considered the factor that we don’t want our audience to become completely distracted from the story plot due to the titles. So, we’ve decided that for our film we plan to make just the title of the film and potentially the director a bigger font than the other titles, since it contributes the most with the story plot of the film. The title of the film assists in the purpose to establish to the audience on what they might be getting into, and to even grab their attention, and the other titles of acknowledging the actors, director, and more, adds the meaning to the contributors of the making of the film. Right now, the working movie title for the opening scene that we have come up with, however it may change as our production begins, is “The Silent Guilt”. This movie title really portrays the situation in which the protagonist may be in, contributing to the story plot. We plan to have our titles appear on the screen in different scenarios where timing is crucial, such as when the screen fades out black and fades back in, the titles can fade in as well and fade out lightly, or when a folder of papers gets slammed on the desk, the camera can be at a high angle, with the titles displayed on the folder, appearing abruptly along with the appearance of the folder, making each title disappear at the next angle of the scene, having specific timings that creates a fluency within our film. Lastly, in terms of timing the titles before they disappear, we plan to have our titles on the screen for enough time where the audience can absorb the information given and acknowledge it, however not long enough where it may distract the audience from the film, creating an even distribution of time for the timing of the titles, adding a fluency and contribution to the film.
