Production Blog: Going to the Park - Final Task

Hello once again, I thought it was a good idea to start visiting Hugh Taylor Birch Park. This is to have a really strong understanding of the atmosphere and scenery of our film. Also, it was primarily important to visit this location first because it's the first scene that shows up in the film. This location is also outdoors, meaning conditions are vital for filming in this specific location. Me and Salome (my group partner) decided to go and visit this location. Me and Salome were planning to go there after school. I didn’t have a ride for this after school activity since I do not have my license. But my brother was willing to drive me after school over to Hugh Taylor Birch Park. However, Salome was offering me as well, and it was more convenient for her to drive me over to the park since she and I were both going to Hugh Taylor Birch Park. When I got there, I knew the park was big, but I didn’t know the size of the land was that huge. The park looked like a huge forest with the land being covered with hundreds of trees. Me and Salome spent some time walking around the park observing our surroundings. I was trying to find a good location for the first scene that was going to include the establishing shot and the first couple of scenes for my film. Me and my group partner were planning to incorporate a drone into the film. I wanted to use this drone so I could get a broad and large-scale view of the park. This would add suspense to the film since the protagonist is running and walking by themselves in the park, with it being huge, showing there would be no way to shout for help. However, I wasn’t able to get the drone for my short film, so me and Salome couldn’t get this specific shot. This was upsetting, however it wasn’t a crucial or major factor in our film, so we just moved on from this small dilemma. After a little while, me and Salome found the best spot for our film. I was able to film the establishing shot that included the trees and nature of the park. However, it was starting to get late and me and Salome had stuff to do after. So, Salome drove me back home and we collectively agreed to continue filming in this spot on another day.
